    • Lifetime honorary member
    • Whilst the society has been under my care, I have pushed to maintain an academic front by starting a lecture series which is run by society members. With myself and the current secretary Stephen Wattam initially starting the series with 4 topics and a logic framework, the 2010 academic year was started with the lecture series being our flagship feature. With a choice of 20 topics drawn from membership interest, 10 topics were voted upon to be covered in the timeslots available.
    • When not managing talks, I chair sessions where members may talk about current projects or ideas they have to the attending membership, and lead the debates upon the interesting projects.
    • Sat on the steering committee for the creation of Lancaster University Science and Technology Association (LUSTA), which is a multi society body of all the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) to facilitate knowledge transfer and funding opportunities.
  • Mountaineering
    • Mountaineering is my main hobby, where most weekends in term time I am the minibus driver for the Lancaster University Mountaineering Society (LUMS) which engage in climbing related activities in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and the quarries and crags of Lancashire. Outside of term time I go hiking and scrambling with friends in the Lake District and Snowdonia.
    • Currently on the exec committee as Gear Secretary (Feb 2011 - Present).
